  What you say here, Met, is "right on." My example: for several years I was totally unaware of the homo-sexual history of a fellow elder. How did I finally learn of his involvement with this JW condemned practice? By a "worldly" person who described to me her opinion of one of our local leaders! So much for "having a ready answer to all who ask a reason for the hope within us."

  oh now come on..........this forum is seriously losing credibilty..............are you seriously accusing 5 members on the governing body of child abuse?.....ok, many of you had bad experiences with the jw faith and i don't mean to be-little that, but how far will some of you go?

  sometimes i wonder if your motives are quite right, you know this echos much of what i felt about how some jumped on the franz/bowen bandwagon in the last few days, from what i read bill bowen seemed to be adulated here, then bam!

  he stepped onto ray franz ' turf.....and all hell broke loose.

  My kid, ten years cancer free.

  today my daughter is ten years cancer free.

  of course, much of that is owed to the tranfusions of blood products.

  products that i did not hesitate to have given to her.. with so much going on in my life (recent death in the family), this board, and just the general rush of life, this very important day nearly got by me.

  Wollersheim v. Scientology: Implications for WTS?

  wollersheim v. the church of scientology was a 22 year court case, finally settled in may of 2002 with the payment of $8.6 million by the church of scientology.

  it raises interesting issues of freedom of religion, and how responsible cults must be for the results of their actions.

  case history summary.. in 1980, lawrence wollersheim filed suit against the church of scientology of california (csc), claiming damages for intentional and negligent infliction of severe emotional distress.

  as an elder i had to investigate allegations made.

  by people claiming "satanic abuse".. please be careful accepting this stuff at face value.. you can end up looking very stupid when exactly zero.

  To those of you who scoff at the idea of JWs being involved with Satanic rituals, let me assure you that there have been congregations in the United States where most seemed to be involved in what the WTS teaches to be related practices. Here is how it worked:

  The congregation was made up of 60 or 80 "publishers," nearly all of whom were members of the same one or two families. Like many JWs in those days (1940s to 1970s) they avoided M.D.s whenever possible. Also like many JWs they were frequently ill. Where did they seek treatment? From an "alternative" practitioner, in this particular case a "homeopath." This particular homeopath practiced his craft with the aid of "Ouija-Board."

  Now, Ouija-Boards have been condemned by the WTS for many years going back to the time that the members of this congregation were seeing this "doctor." Nevertheless, these JWs thought the sun rose and set with this man. Any newly arriving JWs into this town were quickly counseled by certain matriarchal members of the congregation about the wisdom of seeing this particular homeopath whenever illness required it, Ouija-Board and all. This practice went on for years.

  So, dont tell me that at least some JWs do not or have not been a party to the occult.

  it took about seven hours and putting 170 miles on my car, but i finished up all of the kh's i was assigned by lin and jesika (not very biblical for them to take the lead over a man like that!
